I’m a strong believer that our beliefs create our reality.
The beliefs we hold now are what’s keeping us where we are, with what we have now.
So, if we want something different in our lives – like more freedom or control, time or money, meaning or fulfilment – then we first have to change our beliefs.
By replacing old beliefs with new ones – ones that will move us closer to where (or who) we want to be – we start to behave differently…
…and that new behaviour creates a different result…
…which creates a different reality.
“She believed she could, so she did.”
No more stuffy offices for me!
This is me working on my digital business from a beautiful guesthouse in Portugal
I never in a million years believed I could live the life I’m living now.
Even though I knew I was meant for more… I was scared to go after it.
Deep down I knew I had the potential to do much greater things, to touch more people, to have a greater impact than I was having in my IT career…
BUT life was comfortable.
Why would I risk losing everything, for the pursuit of “more”?
It felt greedy and it felt selfish.
And that wasn’t me.
Stop being stupid, Caroline.
You don’t have what it takes.
People will laugh at you!
You’re not like those other people…
You’re nothing special.
What do you think you have to offer?
Besides, it’s too late to start something new now.
You already have it pretty good.
Stop being so ungrateful.
Until… I started hanging around with people who believed that dreams were worth chasing.
These people believed in themselves, believed that anything was possible, and believed that trying and failing was far better than living half a life and dying with the regret of never having tried at all.
When I saw what they were doing, the financial success they were having, the freedom lifestyles they were living, the personal challenges they were overcoming… that’s when my beliefs started to shift.
If they can do it… why can’t I?
Maybe… just maybe… MY dreams could come true too?
And then I realised I was being selfish in NOT trying.
By holding myself back, I was denying other people the possibility of benefiting from my unique gifts and the inspiration I could give others.
I could have more, I could do more, I could BE more… and help others along the way.
And slowly but surely I started believing… that I could be my own boss, I could create my own business, I could do something of value, and maybe people would pay me for it…
Maybe, it was ok to want more…
And that’s when things started to really change for me.
Who were these people?
They are the people I found hanging out in the Launch You online business community.
This is a place where dreamers and doers hang out. The kind of go-getting people who believe anything is possible, when you put your mind to it.
These are people who creating massive changes in their lives, and the lives of the people around them, for the better.
If they can make massive changes in themselves and their lives, why couldn’t you?
So, if you want to change your beliefs, maybe you too could hang around people who are doing what you want to do, having what you want to have.
Try it, and see if your beliefs start to shift.
To living your bestest, fullest life,
Caroline
PS: If you want to dig deeper into the subject of identifying and shifting limiting beliefs, I recommend this recording of a webinar by an Australian lady called Julie-Ann Cairns, author of the book The Abundance Code.
It’s almost two hours long, and it goes into great depth on where our beliefs come from and how we shift them to unlock more abundance in all areas of our life. It’s free to watch, and is one I regularly recommend to friends, and go back to watch myself periodically.
